Black Bear Traditional Martial Arts Center is the region’s foremost center for the practice of traditional Okinawan martial arts and culture, serving Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut since 2008. With direct ties to Japan and Okinawa, we offer instruction of the highest quality in authentic martial traditions, most of which cannot be found anywhere else in our region. Our instructors bring an incredible depth of experience in the martial arts, with a combined training history of more than 100 years. Emphasizing the highest standards of practice and traditional martial arts virtues, our dojo is an exemplary representative of what has unfortunately become a rarity: a dojo that offers true martial arts taught with compassion, dignity and unmatched precision.
